cmatrix-xfont software package provides X11 font for cmatrix, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cmatrix-xfont
cmatrix-xfont is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cmatrix-xfont package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cmatrix-xfont *
You will get with cmatrix-xfont package name, version, architecture and description in a table
